BERNARD ROLFES DIES AT HOSPITAL
HERE AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Bernard (Ben) Rolfes, 71, of 215 Fifth Ave. SE, died Wednesday afternoon at Floyd Valley hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Rolfes was born May 12, 1896, in Germany. He came to the United Slates at the age of two and worked for 19 years at Lampert Yards in Le Mars. He retired in 1959. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Clem Rolfes.
His marriage to Caroline Ruether look place Sept. 16, 1924, at St. James church here, with Rev. L. J. Cooper officiating.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic church. Rev. Dean Walker will officiate and burial will be in Calvary cemetery under direction of the Luken - Johnson funeral home.
Parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Rolfes was a member of St. Joseph parish and of the Holy Name society.
Survivors are his wife, Caroline; seven sons, Arnold, Andrew, Bernard, Lester, Leonard and Lawrence, all of Le Mars; Elmer of Luverne, Minn.; a daughter, Sister Dorothy Rolfes of Bode; two brothers, Henry of Remsen and Frank C. of Le Mars, and three sisters, Sister Aniceta of Dubuque, Mrs. Herman (Bernadine)Schroeder, Kingsley, and Mrs. Bartel (Agnes) Ruba, Remsen.
There are 21 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
