Matilda Ramsey, daughter of Peter and Marie (Anderson) Larson, who had emigrated from Norway, was born October 1, 1876 in Cass County, Iowa and passed away October 27, 1966 at the Krauth Nursing Home in Corning, Iowa at the age of 65 years and 27 days.

She was united in marriage to Winfield Ellsworth Ramsey in December 1897 and they established their home in Adams County. To this union were born the following children -- Max of Corning, Lauretta Townsley of Mt. Etna, Marie Holste of Massena, Gladys Bennet of Clearfield, Winfield of Prescott, Mildred Brown of Hereford, Texas, Bernie Elswink of Council Bluffs, Russell of Corning, Ruth Hoyt of Corning, and Clair of Council Bluffs, all of whom survive. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, 3 daughters-in-law, 6 sons-in-law, a brother Lewis Larson of Clearfield and 2 sisters, Mary Johnson of Corning and Emma Larson of Cedar Rapids and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955 and an infant daughter Grace, one brother Andrew and 3 sisters, Julia Stender, Katie Beik and Clara Larson.

She united with the Christian Church at an early age and later joined the Church of the Brethren at Mt. Etna where she served as a faithful member as long as her health permitted.

She was a charter member of the Friendship Club and it was with this group that she had enjoyed the association of wonderful neighbors.

She was a kind and loving mother who always found time to share her Christian life and her willing hands with all her family and her many friends. She leaves many fond memories with all who knew her.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 31, 1964 at 1:30 at the Church of the Brethren in Mt. Etna with Rev. John O. Wagner officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Beri Peckham and Mrs. Doyle Franbarger, accompanied by Mrs. Joe Cook.

Pallbearers were Frederick Drake, Robert Drake, Everett Kingery, Stanley Evans, Marvin Johnston, and Leslie Duncan. Flower Bearers were Mrs. Everett Kingery and Mrs. Marvin Johnston. Interment was in the Mt. Etna Cemetery.
