GEORGE REIN, son of George and Marie Rein was born in Merkel, Russia on 19 June 1865. When a lad, he was confirmed in the faith of the Lutheran Church. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Eva Elizabeth LOSS (sic). To this union were born seven children, all of whom survive.
In April 1877 he emigrated to Brazil, South America, returning to Russia the same year and serving three years in the Military service of his native land.

In August 1892 the family emigrated to the United States coming direct to Bison, Rush County, Kans. Here he united with the Lone Star Methodist Episcopal Church, and was a worthy representative of the church he loved so well.

In 1901 the family moved to Russell county, settling in the Pioneer neighborhood ten miles southeast of Russell where he resided until his retirement in 1929. During his residence in Russell, he was a regular attendant at the services in the St. John's Lutheran Church of this city.

His last illness was of short duration. Stricken on Sabbath evening, December 29th, on the following Wednesday morning, January 1st, his body ceased to suffer and his redeemed soul took its flight to the Spirit Land. Age 79 years, 6 months, and 12 days.

He leaves to mourn his decease a devoted wife, three sons and four daughters, Mrs. Eva Karst, Galatia; George Rein, Jr., Russell; Mrs. Elizabeth Keil, Galatia; Mrs. Mollie Milberger, Henry Rein, Mrs. Katheryn Dumler, Benjamin Rein, all of Russell; 35 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Katheryn Marguarite Stieben, WaKeeney, Kans.; Mrs. Katheryn Morganstern, Galatia, Kansas; and one brother, Phillip Rein in Russia survive the passing of a loved one.
