George Hellmer was born in Waterloo in 1869 and had lived in Jackson County about 47 years. His siblings include Joseph of St. Louis, Henry of Waterloo and John of Red Bud. Two sisters preceded him in death.
He was married in 1897 to Mary Mueller, who survives. The Hellmers noted their 55th wedding anniversary last September. His children include Arthur, Mrs. Martin Korando and Mrs. Martin Gannon, all of Jacob, and Miss Carrie Korando of St. Louis.
He was a retired farmer. Mr. Hellmer died at the age of 84 at his Jacob home following an illness of about three years.
