Mollie Thomasen, the daughter of Gottlieb and Louisa Mohr Mathiesen, was born September 12, 1896 at Staehl, Russia. She died Tuesday, October 27, 1998 at the Blue Valley Lutheran Home, Hebron, NE, at the age of 102 years, 1 month and 15 days.

Mollie came to American (sic) in 1900 at the age of three. She traveled with her mother and two brothers. Upon arrival in New York she traveled to Lincoln, NE, where they met their husband and father who had come to America in 1899.

Mollie attended school in Lincoln, NE, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1911. Upon her confirmation Mollie began working in Lincoln. In 1915 the family moved to Stoddard. They came by train and settled at Dry Creek. She was united in marriage to Ray T. Thomasen on January 20, 1916 at Lincoln, NE. She and Ray rented a farm four miles east of Deshler, NE, and lived there until 1923 when they moved to a farm south of Hebron. Mollie and Ray farmed until 1972. In 1973 she moved to Chester. Later she and her son Raymond moved to Hebron. She became a resident of Blue Valley Lutheran Home in March of 1997 due to her failing health.

Mollie and her husband farmed for many years. She loved to be out in the open and she loved working in her garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gottlieb and Louisa Mathiesen; her husband, Ray, in 1972; three daughters, LaVerne Thomasen, Rayola Mittan and Marie Wendlendt; one grandson, Clifford Bethscheider; four brothers, Paul, David, Henry and John Mathiesen; two sisters, Katheryn Burton and Carolyn Anderson.

Mollie is survived by one son, Raymond, Hebron; one sister, Helen Sellers, Brownville, TX; three grandchildren, Don Mittan and wife Roberta, Utica, NE, Marilyn Herrick and husband Joe, Franklin, and Ellen Cabrera and husband Jimmiee, Fairbury; 13 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Marjorie Meyers, Myrna Shaner, Lee Sellers, Verdell Mathiesen, Norma Brucillius, Geraldine Graham, Russell Burton, Melva June Corser, Carol Lucas, Rose Higel, Marilyn Anderson, Marilee Huff, LaVerne Palecek, Pauline Rhoades and Bob Mathiesen.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home, Hebron, with the Rev. Paul Albrecht officiating. Interment was held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hebron. Organist for the service was Mrs. Marilyn Cooper. Music for the service was provided by Don Mittan who sang "Precious Memories" and "In The Garden." Jessi Reinke, great-great-granddaughter sang "Amazing Grace." Casket bearers were Don Mittan, Joe Herrick, Jimmie Cabrera, Blake Cabrera, Russell Burton, Verdell Mathiesen, Jeremy Reinke, Jason Reinke and Joey Herrick.

Services were conducted by Hebron Memorial Funeral Home, Hebron.
