Jacob "Jake" Krug Jr., 79, of Laurel died on Jan. 8,1997 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
He was born Jan. 11,1917 in Shepherd, a son of J. J. And Katherine Krug and twin brother of Henry, who died Feb. 8,1917.
Jake was raised in Laurel and graduated from the eighth grade at the Byam School. He served in the medical corps during World War II. On Sept 13,1958, he married Lydia Schreiner. They lived south of Laurel.
Jake enjoyed spending time with he entire family. He also enjoyed fishing, and playing his accordion, especially for his grandchildren, and accompanying his brothers playing fiddle and guitar. He is surivedby his wife, Lydia, his
daughter, Susie, and husband George Safford; his son, Dan; grandchildren Heather, Chad and Brooke Safford, all of Laurel; step grandchildren Misty and Justin Krug; brother Alec of Lewistown; brother John and his wife, Mary; brother George; brother Hank and his wife Ruth, brother Joe and his wife, Marion; brother Willy and his wife, Marlene; sister Annie Neilson; sister Liz McLaughlin; sister Esther Krug; and sister Martha and her husband, Frank Kohl, all of Laurel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, and sisters *Mary Frickel and Molly Gomer.
Funeral services were held Jan. 13 at St. John's Lutheran Church, with interment at Laurel Cemetery. Smith Funeral Chapel of Laurel was in charge of arrangements.
