Willie worked the family farm and, in 1948, they started the gravel pit with his parents and brothers John, Adam, Henry and sister Esther. In 1972, Willie and Marlene and the boys took over the gravel operation, renaming it Krug and Sons Sand and Gravel.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons Chuck and Mike (Carolyn); granddaughters Bridget and Danielle; brothers George and Henry Krug; sisters Esther Krug and Martha Kohl.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Randy, grandsons Dustin, Tommy and Derek; brothers Alex, Jacob, John and Adam Krug; sisters Mary Frickel, Molly Gomer, Elizabeth McLaughlin and Annie Neilson.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel. Cremation will follow service, with burial in the Laurel Cemetery at a later date.
