LAUREL — Henry Krug, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at his home south of Laurel on Oct. 4, 2011, at the age of 88. Henry was born Aug. 1, 1923, to Mary and John Jacob Krug. He was raised on the family farm near Laurel. In 1948, he and his brothers John, Adam and William, along with their sister, Esther, formed Krug Sand and Gravel.
In August of 1952, Henry married June Kolb and together they had three children: Vickie, Stephanie and Roger. Henry continued to farm and ranch. In June of 1976, his wife, June, passed away. He married Ruth Guenthner in 1979, and they celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary this last March.
Hank is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; his three children, Roger, Stephanie Bummer (Terry) and Vickie Coover (Craig); as well as five grandchildren, Brandy, Tera and Whitney Bummer and Adam and Anna Krug. He is also survived by step-children Priscilla Halcro (Ken), Scott Guenthner (Patti) and children Mitch, Casey and Jaclyn, Karen Bell (Jay) and children Jon, Brandon and Megan, Matt Guenthner (Bobbi) and children Samantha, Drew and Max, Bob Guenthner (Terri) and children Jake, Ryan, Dustin and Christine. Hank is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren as well as his sisters, Esther Krug and Martha Kohl, and brother, George.
Hank is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary, Molly, Elizabeth and Anna; brothers, Jacob, John, Adam and William, as well as a niece, Dot Frank.
Funeral services will be at St. John's Lutheran Church at 417 W. Ninth St. in Laurel at 10 a.m. Friday Oct. 7. Interment will be the Laurel Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel.
