Lottie Bowen, 93, of Marshalltown, died Monday, October 30th, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 3rd, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Batchler officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Lottie and her family. In lieu of flowers, direct memorials to a charity of choice. Born on May 9, 1913, in Keosauqua, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Lottie (Miles) Kreiss. She received her education in the area of her birth. She graduated from the Keosauqua High School in 1930. On September 15, 1934, she was united in marriage to Raymond Lowell Bowen in Des Moines, Iowa. They made their home in Marshalltown and then moved to State Center. After ten years in State Center, they called Marshalltown their home once again. Lottie was a homemaker for many years and later in life she became a self-employed seamstress. Lottie was a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years and she was also a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. She was also a member of the Garden Club in State Center and volunteered at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center Coffee Shop for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes, and she was very involved in her children's activities. Lottie will be greatly missed by many. Left to mourn her loss are her loving children: Richard (Karen) Bowen, Donna Rae Lundberg and Judy Luhring, 13 grandchildren: Michael Bowen, Cindy Saunders, Greg, Rick and Jeff Lundberg, Becky Peck, Barry, Brad, Bret, Brian and Blake Hovenga, Beva Lupkes and Benita Mertens, 30 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. In death she has rejoined her beloved husband, Raymond, her parents, a son, Dennis J. Bowen, who died at birth, five brothers and four sisters.
