Florence D. Hobbs, 82, of 515 Waverly, died Nov. 27, 1982 at 5:05 a.m. in Ottumwa Hospital.
She was born in Keosauqua on Nov. 14, 1900 to John and Lottie Miles Kreiss. She was a retired licensed practical nurse at Ottumwa Hospital. She was a member of Riverview United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Gold Star Mothers. She married Paul Brown in 1918. He died in 1941. In Januaury 1948, she married George L. Hobbs at Ottumwa.
Surviving are her husband; daughter Lois McDowell of Agency, five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; brother John Kreiss of Keosauqua; and sisters Beedie Kreiss of Waterloo, Edith Jemison of Oskaloosa, Lena DeHart of Wickenburg, Ariz., and Lottie Bowen of Marshalltown.
Services were held at the Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dale Gray officiating. Burial: Lebanon Cemetery in Van Buren County.
Pallbearers: Harley Paul McDowell and Scott McDowell, Dennis Bradley, Wayne Reed, Terry House and Dwayne House Jr.
Amemorial has been established to her church.
