Mrs. Lottie Kreiss, daughter of George and Maria Miles, was born in Keosauqua, Iowa March 9, 1875 and passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 24, 1957, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Florence Hobbs, at Ottumwa, Iowa.
On July 22, 1895, she was united in marriage to John W. Kreiss. To this union were born ten children; Laurence of Council Bluffs, Beedie of Waterloo, Florence Hobbs of Ottumwa, Lena DeHart of Wickenburg, Ariz., John of Bonaparte, Lottie Mae Bowen of State Center, Edith Jemison of Oskaloosa, Bob and Joe of Keosauqua.
Her husband and one son, Harold, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Kreiss joined the Methodist Church in Keosauqua, Iowa Sept. 2, 1894. She was a devoted member of her church for over 63 years. She was also a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed the activities of the Needlecraft Club and took a very active part in it.
She loved her church as well as her other organizations but her greatest devotion was to her home and family.
Mrs. Kreiss leaves to mourn her passing her nine children, one brother, George, of Marion, Iowa 28 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, one cousin, Minnie McIntosh of Keosauqua, as well as a multitude of friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 1957 at the Keosauqua Methodist Church with Rev. John Nye in charge. Interment was in Purdom Cemetery. The boby is at the Burnett-Catcott funeral home.
