She was born October 28, 1904 in Keosauqua, Iowa, to John and Lottie Kreiss. She married Ernest L. DeHart September 14, 1923. He preceded her in death in May, 1984.
She became a dietician for the schools of Wickenburg and later on retiring became a volunteer for the senior citizen group, The Wise Owl, having put in over 14,000 hours.
She attended the Calvary Baptist Church while living in Wickenburg.
She is survived by 6 children; 3 sons, LeRoy and Douglas of Fairfield, Iowa, and Ronald of Glendale, Arizona; 3 daughters, Dorothy Keller and Lou Ann Turner of Faifield and Carol Edmonston of Des Moines, Iowa, twenty grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, one sister, Lottie Bowen of Marshalltown, Iowa and one brother, John Kreiss of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
There was a memorial service on July 18, 1991 in Wickenburg. Her body was cremated, the ashes will be buried in the Purdom Cemetery at Keosauqua, Iowa at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being made to the National Alzheimer's Foundation.
