He graduated from Keosauqua High School with the class of 1928. He was a life time resident of Van Buren County. Following his father as a mason by trade, he worked for Van Buren County for a number of years and later for Conner Brothers Construction. He was employed at Dietzman's at the time of his passing.
On May 18, 1934, he was united in marriage to Edith Ann Winn of Milton. To this union was born five children, Gary of Fairfield, Arlo of Keosauqua, Lana Boughner of Fairfield, Linda Brill of Des Moines, and Jo Ann at home. He also leaves nine grandchildren. Besides his wife, children and grandchildren, he leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, Bob of Keosauqua and John of Mt. Pleasant and five sisters, Beedie Kreiss of Waterloo, Florence Hobbs of Ottumwa, Lena DeHart of Wickenburg, Arizona, Edith Jemison of Oskaloosa, Lottie Mae Bowen of Marshalltown, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and two brothers, Lawrence and Harold.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 13, by Rev. James M. Ford at the Keosauqua United Methodist Church.
