Born in Dreidorf, Kries Wirsitz, Prussia to Daniel and Karoline (Zierke) Werner and baptized in Lobsen (now Lobzenica) Parish, he died four months later. Two other young siblings: Wilhelmine and Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Werner, died soon after. The cholera epidemics of 1847 to 1849, and 1855, could have caused their young deaths.
