She was born in Schmilowo, Kries Flatow, West Prussia on Feb 23, 1866, a twin, and christened in Vandsburg, Kries Flatow, West Prussia on Feb 25, 1866. Caroline, Ferdinand, and twins, Charlotte and Auguste, arrived in America on Apr 7, 1877. She married Henry Thoele on Nov 9, 1887 in Sibley Twp., Sibley Co., MN.

Her father, Daniel, died in Schmilowo on Jan 25, 1870. She had eleven siblings, three died young in Dreidorf; Friedrich, Wilhelmine, and Johann. Bertha arrived in Castle Garden (predecessor to Ellis Island), NYC on May 10, 1873. She was married and living in Henderson, Sibley Co., in 1875. Hermann settled in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife and two children from Prussia in 1878. Pauline arrived in Castle Garden on May 23, 1874, By 1885 Caroline, August, Ferdinand, and one of the twins, Charlotte, settled in Sibley and Redwood Counties, MN. Pauline and the other twin, Auguste, had settled in San Francisco, CA. Two children: (maybe) Frederick and William, round out the siblings to twelve.
