Hermann Emil arrived on Mar 2, 1878, in New York on the S.S. Mosel; his wife Eva Rosine Weinkauf and two children: Auguste and Emma, arrived on Jun 20, 1878, on the S.S. Leipzig. They sent down roots in Cleveland, Ohio where living descendants still reside. Hermann died in 1906 in Cleveland.
Pauline arrived in Castle Garden on May 23, 1874, Caroline, Ferdinand, and twins arrived on Apr 7, 1877. In 1880, Caroline, August, and the twins were living in Alameda County, California. By 1885 Caroline, August, Ferdinand, and one of the twins, Charlotte, settled in Sibley and Redwood Counties, MN. Pauline, the other twin, Auguste, (maybe) Frederick and William had settled in San Francisco, CA.
Part of a biographical account for Ferdinand written in 1916 states, "Ferdinand J. Werner, a thrifty farmer of Vesta township, was born in Germany, July 29, 1862, son of Daniel and Caroline (Zirkie) Werner. Daniel Werner was a blacksmith in Germany and died in 1870. There were twelve children in the family, four of whom are living: August a farmer of Underwood township; Bertha, now Mrs. Fred Gums of Henderson; Ferdinand J., and Charlotte, now wife of Henry Thoele of Sibley county, Minn. Ferdinand J. Werner came to America in 1877 with his mother, and located in Sibley county, Minn., where he farmed until 1892," indicating Hermann, Frederick and William had died prior to 1916.
Part of Charlotte's obituary states, "Mrs. Thoele, mother of eleven children, was born Charlotte Werner on February 23, 1866 in West Prussia, Germany. Her father died when she was a small child, and at the age of ten years, she came with her mother, and sisters and brothers, to America. They first lived in California, but after a few years came to Henderson to reside."
Pauline's obituary states, "YOUNG— In this city, August 6, 1903, at the French Hospital, Pauline Werner Young, beloved wife of J. B. Young of 1045 Sixty-second street, Oakland, mother of William, Pauline and John Young, and sister of Mrs. W. W. West of Penn's Grove, a native of Prussia, aged 46 years and 14 days." [calculated date = 23 Jul 1857]. (Mrs. William Walter West was Auguste Werner).
