w/o Frederick W. Goms. d/o Daniel Werner & Caroline W. Zierke of Kries Wirsitz, Posen, Prussia. Bertha was born in Driedorf and christened in Lobsens. Her father, Daniel, died in Schmilowo, Kries Flatow, West Prussia on Jan 25, 1870. Bertha arrived in Castle Garden (predecessor to Ellis Island), NYC on May 10, 1873. She married Frederick Goms in Newark, New Jersey on Apr 28, 1874 and was living in Henderson, Sibley Co., later in 1874. She had eleven siblings, three died young in Driedorf; Friedrich, Wilhelmine, and Johann. Hermann settled in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife and two children from Prussia in 1878. Pauline arrived in Castle Garden on May 23, 1874, Frederick on Apr 3, 1875, Caroline, Ferdinand, and twins, Charlotte and Auguste, arrived on Apr 7, 1877. By 1885 Caroline, August, Ferdinand, and one of the twins, Charlotte, settled in Sibley and Redwood Counties, MN. Pauline and the other twin, Auguste, had settled in San Francisco, CA.Two children: (maybe) Frederick and William, round out the siblings to twelve.

FUNERAL RITES FOR MRS. GOMS ARE HELD MON.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Goms, 77, who died In a local hospital Saturday [Dec 8] of an abdominal ailment, were held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. P.C. Barrett, 910 Fifth Ave. Monday [Dec 10] at 2:30 p. m. Rev. W. E. Motzkus, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, officiated. Burial was made in the Highland cemetery.
Mrs. Goms was born in Hanover, Germany. After coming to America she resided at Henderson, Minn., until about 15 years ago, when she came to Havre. Her husband died in Minnesota. Mrs. Goms had been in the hospital about 5 weeks, and had been ill for several months.
Surviving her in addition to Mrs. Barret are three sons, Fred, Havre; Albert, Lewistown, and Herbert, Minneapolis, and another daughter, Mrs. D.A. Armstrong, who resides south of Havre.
