August Ondrej Age 83, Dies

August Ondrej, 83, of Penelope died Thursday night in a Hubbard hospital.

Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Friday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel, West. Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Catholic Church of The Nativity, Penelope, Rev. Jerry Mossman officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West.

Mr. Ondrej was born in Cameron. He had lived in the Penelope area for the past 40 years. He was a retired farmer and a member of Catholic Church of Nativity in Penelope. Mr. Ondrej served in the Army in France during World War I. He was a member of the VFW Post 4819 of West. He was a member of the American Legion of West and SPJST No. 6.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Ondrej of Penelope; four sons, Ben Ondrej and John Ondrej, both of Penelope, Lawrence Ondrej of Leroy and George Ondrej of Route 1, Waco; four daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Dorothy) Vybiral of Abbott, Mrs. Ted (Evelyn) Pappas of Malone, Mrs. Jim (Mildred) Tooley of Ft. Worth and Mrs. Mary Ann Jones of Garland; a brother, Joe Ondrej of Penelope; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Larry Ondrej, Bennie Mynar, Marvin Mynar, Felix Mynar, Jr., Albert Hornak, and Anthony Vybiral.
