Emma Pauline Larson, daughter of Peter and Marie Anderson Larson was born near Massena, Iowa on June 3, 1887. She was the youngest of nine children.

She was graduated from Iowa State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls, Iowa and later received her B. A. Degree from Western State College in Colorado.

She taught school in Iowa for several years before going to Colorado where she taught in many parts of the state.

She taught in the Keating Junior High School at Pueblo for nineteen years. After retiring she made her home at Colorado Springs. She taught the handicapped in District eleven and did some tutoring in her home.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the AAUW, and the United Church Women. For a number of years she was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Colorado Springs and served on the Board of the Young Women's Christian Association. The lives of many young men and women testify in her good influence upon them. From early youth she was a consecrated Christian and sincere church worker.

She returned to Iowa several years ago and had made her home in Cedar Rapids. She had been in ill health for the past year and passed away at the Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids on October 17, 1965 at the age of 78 years, four months, and fourteen days.

Surviving members of her immediate family are one brother, Lewis Larson of Clearfield, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. Martin Johnston of Corning, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Andrew, five sisters, Mrs. Peter Stender, Mrs. Ellsworth Ramsey, Mrs. Arthur Beik, Clara Larson, and Nettie Larson, who died in infancy.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 19 at 1:30 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning, Iowa with Rev. John Wagner officiating. Pallbearers were John Stender, Tom Larson, Russell Ramsey, Max Ramsey, Art Holste, and Floyd Chester. Interment was in the Victoria Cemetery.

Emma Pauline Larson, 78, of 385 Thirtieth Street SE, a Cedar Rapids resident, three years, died Sunday following a long illness.

She was born June 3, 1887, at Massena. She later taught at the Massena School before moving to Colorado. She lived in Colorado Springs for 45 years.

Surviving are a brother, Lewis Larson of Clearfield, and a sister, Mrs. Martin Johnston of Corning.

Mrs. Larson was a member of the First Congregational Church, the AAUW, and the Retired Teachers.

The body was taken from the Turner chapel to the Roland funeral home at Corning. Services and burial will be at Corning.
