Mrs. Agnes Schmitz, 85, widow of Anton Schmitz, a lifelong resident of Mt. Calvary, died at 3 a.m., Sunday at her home, after two weeks illness. She was born Sept. 1, 1855.

After the death of her husband in 1931, Mrs. Schmitz lived on a farm south of Mt. Calvary until 1935, where she went to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sippel at Mt. Calvary.

Surviving are 11 children, Mrs. Pauline Atkinson, Calvary, R.1, John Schmitz of Calvary, R.1, Mrs. Julia Rieden, city, Richard Schmitz, Malone, R.1, Emily Schmitz, Milwaukee, Mrs. Kathryn Holzmann, Calvary, R.1, Mrs. Anna Konen, Plymouth, Mrs. Ida Wuest, city, Mrs. Sippel, Mrs. Alma Feyen, New Holstein, and Tony G. Schmitz, city; 30 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. A son, Herman Schmitz, preceded her in death 23 years ago.

Mrs. Schmitz was a member of the Christian Mothers' Society and of the Third Order of St. Francis.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Sippel residence and at 10 a.m. from Holy Cross church, Mt. Calvay. The Rev. Jude Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
