Funeral Card: In Memory of Elmer E. Rein, son of George and Beatrice (Keil) Rein Jr. was born May 28, 1911, on the family farm southeast of Russell, and departed this life Dec. 31, 1987, at Russell City Hospital, at the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 3 days. He was a farmer and stockman, and spent all of his life in Russell Co. On July 6, 1940, he was united in marriage to Thelma Small at Bazine, KS. To this union a daughter was born, who survives him. After their marriage they establised their home on a farm in the Pioneer Community, where they took part in social, church and community affairs. He retired from farming in 1984, but continued living on the farm. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
To treasure and cherish his memory are his wife, Thelma, of the home; daughter, Mrs. Homer (Janet) Shaffer, K.C., KS; brothers: Leon, Denver; and Alvin, Russell; sisters: Luella Rein and Marie Ford, both of Russell; Hilda Michel, Downs, KS; Helen Lockyer, Junction City, KS; Darlene Woodson, San Diego, CA; and one granddaughter, Tonya Shaffer. Preceded by parents and a brother Herman.
Funeral at Cline's All Faith Chapel with Rev. Vern Bowers, officiating. Burial in Russell City Cemetery.
