Funeral services were held Saturday, June 5 at the St John Lutheran Church, north of State Center with Pastor David Steege officiating. Burial followed at the Hillside cemetery.
She was born near State Center on November 1, 1906, the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Wolken Fricke.
On March 4, 1926 in State Center, she was united in marriage to Ervin Eggers, he preceded her in death in December of 1982.
Six children survive: Vernon (Berneice) Eggers of Hollister, Missouri; Merle (Norma) Eggers of Ames; Reuben (Veronica) Eggers of Rapid City, South Dakota; Glen (Janice) Eggers of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Elmer (Jane) Eggers of State Center and Ramona (Mrs Roscoe) Milleson of Colo, Iowa.
There are 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.
One sister and three sisters-in-law also survive; Inez Badger of State Center, and Nadine, Dorothy and Mary.
Preceding Mrs Eggers in death were her parents, husband, five sisters and six brothers.
Reared and educated in rural State Center, Marie attended the St John Parochial School. Following their marriage they farmed in the West Marshall and Story County areas and in 1963 retired and moved into Colo, Iowa. In 1980 they moved to State Center and she has made her home there since that time.
Well-known for her love of horses, fishing and her family were her great interests.
Marie was a member of the St John Lutheran Church, the Church Ladies Aid and the Colo Good Earth Garden Club.
