She was born on Oct. 4, 1915, the daughter of the late Mathias Nick and Anna Bleuel Abler.
She lived and went to school in Mt. Calvary. On Aug. 20, 1940, she married Edmund Wagner. They resided in Fond du Lac.
Some of her many activities were bowling, playing sheepshead, working in her gardens, traveling, singing in the St. Joseph's choir and in the Woman's Civic Choir. She volunteered for 28 years making craft items for the St. Agnes Gift Shop.
As a longtime member of St. Joseph's Parish, she volunteered for many church-related activities. As a member of the Artists Association she loved oil painting and painted many beautiful pictures. Cordula enjoyed dancing, music, was a talented seamstress and she loved her cats.
She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cordula loved to laugh and cherished family and friends.
She is survived by her sister Genevieve Abler of Fond du Lac, her five children: Peter (Diane) Wagner of Elkhart Lake, Judy (Larry) Lechner of Fond du Lac, Bruce (Sue) Wagner of Fond du Lac, Brian (Cindy) Wagner of Fond du Lac and Fred (Sally) Wagner of Minneapolis, MN; her 11 grandchildren: Beth Wagner, Susan Cushman, Trisha Wagner, Christopher Lechner, Tony Lechner, Greg Lechner, Keely Wagner, Eric Wagner, Paul Wagner, Maggie Wagner and Ike Wagner; her eight great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Preceding her in death were her loving husband Edmund; and her siblings Patricia Abler, Lawrence Abler, Lucy Mertens, Camilla Casper, Ralph Abler, Harold Abler, Ambrose Abler, Herbert Abler, Alex Abler and Norman Abler.
•Funeral Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wed., April 15, 2009, at 12:00 Noon, at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth St. Way, Fond du Lac. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, in Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.
•Visitation: Visitation will be Wed., April 15, from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at Holy Family Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fond du Lac Humane Society or Hospice Hope.
