Herbert F. Abler, 38, lifelong resident of Mt. Calvary, died Monday night at Wisconsin General hospital, Madison. He had been confined to the hospital less than a week.

A son of Mrs. Anna B. Abler of Mt. Calvary and the late Matt N. Abler, he was born Jan. 26, 2908, at Mt. Calvary. He was a painter by trade.

Survivors include the mother with whom he resided; four sisters, Mrs. Ernest Mertens and Mrs. Edmund Wagner, this city; Genevieve and Patricia, at home, and five brothers, Ambrose and Ralph Abler of Milwaukee, Harold of Mt. Calvary, Lawrence of Madison and Norman at home.

Preceding Mr. Abler in death were his father, in 1941, a brother, Alex, a naval casualty in 1943, and a sister, Mrs. Camilla Casper.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

FUNERAL RITES ARE CONDUCTED AT MT. CALVARY
Burial Services Held In Holy Cross Cemetery For Herbert F. Abler

Funeral services for Herbert F. Abler of Mt. Calvary, who died Monday, were held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the residence and at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross church in the village, the Rev. Josephat Munsing, O.F.M. Cap., officiating. The mass was sung by the Men's choir of the church, of which Mr. Abler was a member, under the direction of Mrs. Milton Huberty.

Officer of the Mt. Calvary fire department, to which Mr. Abler belonged, served as honorary pallbearers. They were Michael Dietzen, Joseph Rieden, August Steffes and Richard Abler. Active pallbearers were Aquilin Abler, Emil Abler, Leander Koenigs, Hermenegild Bleuel, Jerome Mannenbach and Elmer Braun. Alois Bittner was cross bearer.

Those attending the rites include Mr. and Mrs. Ralph S. Abler and Ambrose Abler of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Mertz of Joliet, Ill.; Mrs. William S. Smith and Miss Eleanor Sippel of Evanston, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bleuel and family of Byron and Lawrence Abler of Madison.
