Former Town Clerk; Church Services Being Planned

The former Mt. Calvary town clerk, Norman J. Abler, 55, died at his home at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born May 4, 1909, at Mt. Calvary, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Math Abler. He was town clerk for 15 years and for the last 20 years was a bookkeeper at the Ford garage in Mt. Calvary. He never married.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Anna Abler; four sisters, Mrs. Ernest Mertens and Mrs. Edmund Wagner, Fond du Lac, and Patricia and Genevieve at home; and four brothers, Ambrose, St. Paul, Harold, Fond du Lac, Ralph, Milwaukee, and Lawrence, Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Lisowe Funeral home in St. Cloud and 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic church in Mt. Cavalry. The Rev. Elmer Stoffel, O.F.M. Cap., will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral services for Norman J. Abler, who died at his home Tuesday, were held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Lisowe Funeral home in St. Cloud and at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross church in Mt. Calvary.

The Rev. Roman Stoffel, O.F.M. Cap., officiated. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery.

Pallbearers were Emil Abler, Dennis Mertens, Leo Abler, Alex Mertens, Paul Abler, and Earl Mannenbach.
