Funeral service with requiem High Mass, was held Tuesday morning, March 18, 1952, at 9:30 from St. Francis Catholic Church in Claremont, Father Sullivan officiating and the choir of St. Vincent Parish assisting with music and singing for Mrs. Lewis Meyer, who died suddenly Friday afternoon of a heart attack. She had just passed her 67th birthday at the time of her death.

Deceased was the daughter of John and Mary Schmit, and was born near Dubuque, Iowa, on March 8, 1885. Most of her life was spent in South Dakota until 1934, when she moved with her husband and family to this community. She married Lewis M. Meyer in 1905. To this union were born eight children.

She is survived by her husband, four sons, four daughters, one sister, two brothers and 34 grandchildren. Sons are Bernard, Gregory, Louis (Bud) and George, all of West Concord. Daughters are (Margaret) Mrs. Marcel VanDenHemel, Dodge Center; (Louise) Mrs. Harold Paukert, Minneapolis; (Dorothy), Mrs. Ben Petzel, Schuyler, Nebraska; and (Edith) Mrs. Orrion Barger, Chamberlain, South Dakota, all of whom with their families, attended the funeral.

Others attending the funeral from away were sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Heiberger and son-in-law, Frank Ruley, Earlville, Iowa; Mrs. Kate Schmit, sister-in-law, Canova, South Dakota; Mrs. John Sullivan, niece, Winifred, South Dakota; and Mrs. August Petzel, Henderson, Minnesota, with many friends of neighboring communities. Her six oldest grandsons acted as pallbearers. They were: Eugene, Richard, and Robert Meyer, George and Leo VanDenHemel and Jerome Meyer. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Owatonna, with arrangements in charge of mortician C. J. Ferguson, West Concord.
