Mrs. Stephen G. Mayer, Who Was A Native Of Edina, Died Friday Afternoon

Mrs. Stephen G. Mayer of Baring, 60 years old and a native of Edina and life-long resident of Knox County, died at 1:37 o'clock Friday afternoon, June 11, 1965, at the Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital. She had been ill since May 1963, and had been in the hospital since June 6.

The body was brought to the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home here where Rosary was at 8 o'clock Saturday and Sunday evenings. Funeral services were at 9 o'clock Monday morning at St. Aloysius Church in Baring with the Rev. Louis McCorkle of Hannibal officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Elizabeth, Mrs. Edward Menke, and Misses Norma and Phyllis Mayer, all of Ft. Madison, Iowa, and Janet, Mrs. Ronald Moore, of Baring, two sons, Steven L. Mayer of Unionville and Paul "Bud" Mayer of Baring. She also leaves two step-daughters, Marguerite, Mrs. Leroy Gregory, of Alexandria and Mrs. Geneva Long of Burlington, Iowa, 23 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four sisters, Misses Florence, Ruth and Clara Schlepphorst of Edina and Bernadine, Mrs. John Haddick, of St. Joseph, and two brothers, John Schlepphorst of Edina and Paul Schlepphorst of Chicago.

Mrs. Mayer was born Aug. 5, 1904, in Edina, one of the eleven children of John H. and Elizabeth Zurborg Schlepphorst. As Mary Louise Schlepphorst, she was married July 6, 1923, in Edina, to Mr. Mayer and they were the parents of the above mentioned children. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Edina and was a member of St. Aloysius Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sisters and two brothers, Edward Louis Schlepphorst, July 7, 1952, and Lawrence B. Schlepphort, Dec. 18, 1961.
