Mrs. Eleanor Smith (Schmidt), 79, of 1420 Francis Street, resident of Port Huron for 50 years, widow of William Smith, died today in the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Wirtz, 1623 Court Street, after a long illness. She was born Dec. 10, 1995 in Russia. Mr. Smith died in 1939.

She was a member of St. Paul American Lutheran Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Andrew Falk, Flint; Mrs. John Wirtz, Port Huron; Mrs. Grant Arnold, Fosemont, PA., and Mrs. Kenneth Anderson, Collegeville, PA; three sons, William Smith, Wakefield Va., and Sam Smith, Houston, Tex.; two brothers, Henry Meinhardt Port Huron and Fred Meinhardt, Park City, Mont.; a sister, Mrs. John Gitersonke, Detroit; 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The remains are in the Pollock-Jowett Funeral Home until 11:30 a.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Martin L. Ehlen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
