James A. Allen - Merchant Marine
Houston - James A. "Jake" Allen, a retired Merchant Marine officer, died Friday at a Pasadena hospital. He was 72.
The family will receive friends at Shannon North chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow at Shannon North Chapel. Burial will be in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Mr. Allen was born in Tarrant County and moved to Houston in 1986.
He was a career officer of the Merchant Marine and retired as a first officer in 1986. He served in combat zones during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He had been a member of Rosen Heights Baptist Church since childhood.
Survivors: Six brothers, Edward S. Allen of LaPorte, Lee Roy Allen of Mesquite, Dr. R. Earl Allen of Fort Worth, Robert Allen of Fort Worth, Floyd Allen of Fort Worth and Dr. John H. Allen of Denver, and sister, Mary Willis of Fort Worth.
