J. J. Karst, 70, Retired Farmer, Dies of an Attack
Life Long Resident, Opened City Addition, Rites To Be Saturday
J. J. Karst, life long Russell County resident, died at 1:30 p.m. yesterday at his home on West 15th Street of a heart attack. He was 70.
Karst, born and reared in the county, had not been ill previously.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Deines Funeral Home and at 3 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger.
Born Oct. 25, 1886, Karst spent most of his life as a farmer in the Milberger community. He retired in 1913 and moved here.
In 1952 he opened the Karst Addition, real estate development in the northwest part of town. Seven homes are now included in the addition.
Survivors are: widow, Mollie, of the home; three sons, Paul of Wilson and Albert and Herbert of Russell; six daughters, Mrs. Clara Eacret of Severance, Colo., Mrs. Elma Schneider of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Elise Brack of Otis, Mrs. Esther Scheuerman, Mrs. Martha Brack, and Mrs. Doris Koch, all of Russell.
Two brothers, Alex of Sanleando, Calif., and Emanuel of Bunker Hill; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Dietz of Russell, Amelia Fabrizius of Wakeeney, and Mrs. Odelia Eichman of Kansas City, Mo.; and 13 grandchildren.
A "J. J. Karst Memorial Fund" is being established in his honor. Contributions will go toward building a new church at Milberger. W. R. Shaffer is in charge of the fund.
