Elsie Allegra Brack
Elsie Allegra (Krast) Brack, 87, of Russell died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays. Elsie and her twin sister, Esther Scheuerman, were born July 17, 1919, on the family farm in the Milberger area, the daughters of John Jacob "J.J." and Emelia "Mollie" (Keil) Karst.
Elsie was married to Clifford G. Brack on Jan. 22, 1943, in Reno, Nev.
They lived in Otis and Great Bend, and moved to Russell in the late 1970s.
Clifford preceded her in death August 6, 2003 (sic).
Elsie was a nurse's assistant for St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend, and retired from Russell Regional Hospital, Russell.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, but also attended the Trinity Lutheran Churches in Otis and Great Bend, and the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger.
She also was a member of the Russell VFW Post 6240 Ladies' Auxiliary.
She enjoyed making ceramics with her husband and sharing them with family and friends.
Surviving family include her daughter, Marsha Gullickson and husband George of Bloomington, Minn; two grandchildren, Merris Gullickson of Minnesota and Geoff Gullickson of North Dakota; brother, Herbert Karst, Newton, Kansas; sister, Elma Morgenstern, of Overland Park, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, three brothers and an infant grandchild.
Celebration of Elsie's Life was scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Church of Russell.
Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery near Great Bend.
A memorial has been established with St. John Lutheran Church.
