OWENSBORO MESSENGER INQUIRER OBITUARY - 07/23/1960
Robert A. Barr, 52, machinist, of Route 2, Utica, who died at 8:40 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Mercy Hospital following an extended illness, will be buried today in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Brown's Valley, following funeral services there at 9 a.m. For the past 15 years he had been engaged as a machinist at Murphy-Miller Inc. Born at Utica, Aug. 11, 1907, he had lived in Daviess County all his life. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann; one daughter, Mrs. Peggy Willett of Owensboro; mother Mrs. Ella M. Barr; five sisters, Mrs. Martha Crowe of Philpot, Mrs. Paul Drury of Stanley, Mrs. Ethel Thompson of Utica, Mrs. Hugh Rhodes of Livia and Mrs. Therese Higdon of Masonville; five brothers, Garrett, Roland and Martin Barr of Daviess County, Charles Barr, Rome, Ga., and Dennis Barr, with the U. S. Navy in Newfoundland. Pallbearers will be: Active - Bobby Crowe, Billy Crowe, Ronald Thompson, Charles Thompson, Louis Barr, and Herman Barr; Honorary - Frank Payne, Harold Carman, Vernon Robertson, Gene Henning and Martin Newton. The body is at the James H. Davis Funeral Home, where prayers were said at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
