William Garrett Barr, 72, of Whitesville, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday [February 17, 1971] at his home following a short illness. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ruth Barr; six sons, Louis and Herman, both of Owensboro, Jackie, Martin, Gerald, and Freddie, all of Whitesville; seven daughters, Sister Aloysius Marie Barr, OSU, of Vine Grove, Mrs. William Lewis of Winslow, IN, Mrs. Wilfred Hamilton of Gary IN, Mrs. Charles Mayfield and Mrs. James Mincy, both of Owensboro, Mrs. Matthew Howard of Guston and Mrs. Lee Goff of Birk City; 63 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Martin of Whitesville, George R. of Stanley, Charles of Bradenton, FL, and Dennis of Winchester, NH; and five sisters, Mrs. Martha Payne, Mrs. Urey Thompson and Mrs. Raymond Higdon, all of Owensboro, Mrs. Paul Drury of Stanley and Mrs. Hugh Rhodes of Livia. The body is at Martin Funeral Home in Whitesville, where friends may call.
