Martha I. Crowe Payne, 79, of R2, Philpot, died Sunday, July 20, 1980, at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. She was born in Daviess, was a housewife and was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church and its Altar Society. Her husband Frank Payne, died in 1973. Survivors include nine sons; William (Bill), Robert, Edward (Doug), Norbert & Joseph Crowe Jr., all of Owensboro, Paul Crowe of Knottsville, George Crowe of Columbia City, IN, Martin Crowe of Lewisport and Gene Crowe of Whitesville; two daughters, Mrs. William (Martha) Zoglmann of Owensboro and Mrs. Wilbur (Patsy) Phelps of Whitesville; two stepsons, James Edward and Thomas Payne, both of Owensboro; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Louis (Magdlen) Clements of Mesa, AZ, Mrs. Tiny (Mary Frances) Crichton of Elgin, IL, and Mrs. Roger (Hilda) Kapp of Evans, IN; 59 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roland Barr of Reed and Charles Barr of Bradenton, FL; and three sisters, Mrs. Urey (Ethel) Thompson of Philpot, Mrs. Hugh (Jennie Mae) Roads of Livia, and Mrs. Raymond (Theresa) Higdon of Owensboro. Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin Catholic Church. Burial in St. Augustine Cemetery, Reed. Visitation after 9 a.m. today at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. today.
