Mary Ethel Barr Thompson, 85, of 5736 Cedar Lane, Philpot, died Friday, Nov. 18, 1994, at her residence. She was born in Daviess County, a daughter of the late George R. and Ella M. Knott Barr. She was a homemaker and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Urey Thompson, in 1991. Survivors include four sons, Charles U. Thompson and Ronald A. Thompson, both of Utica, and Everett E. Thompson and William J. Thompson, both of Owensboro; nine daughters, Mrs. John (Marie) Davis of Sweden, Mrs. Charles (Lois) Coomes of Abilene, Texas, Mrs. Leonard (Barbara) Enslow of Elizabethtown, Eugenia Marie Thompson of Philpot, Mrs. Bert (Ellen) Baldes of Louisville, Brenda L. Murray of Austin, Texas, Margaret C. Newton of Philpot, Dr. Kaye Thompson and Mrs. Mark (Tommie) Clark, both of Louisville; 36 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Barr of Bradenton, Fla.; and a sister, Theresa Higdon of Owensboro. Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Brown's Valley. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home, Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
