Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Dennis Reed officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Baier died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at Garden Valley Retirement Village.
She was born Aug. 27, 1913, at Topeka, the daughter of John and Barbara (Kipps) Burgardt. The family moved to Bellingham, Wash., and then to Holcomb when she was a child. She attended Holcomb schools.
On Jan. 17, 1933, she married Philip D. Baier at Garden City. They have lived in Garden City since moving here in 1967.
Mrs. Baier was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, Eagles Lodge and VFW Auxiliary. A homemaker, she also made wedding cakes for people for many years. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and being with her grandchildren.
Survivors include four sons, Johnny Baier and James Baier, both of Holcomb, Andrew Baier, Garden City, and David Baier, Deerfield; three daughters, Helen Smith, Mary Jane Baier and Virginia Green, all of Garden City; five brothers, John Burgardt, Eunice, La., Pete Burgardt, Joe Burgardt and Clarence Burgardt, all of Garden City, and George Burgardt, Arvada, Colo.; three sisters, Anna Dreiling, Lamar, Colo., Rosie Knoll, Garden City, and Sister Virginia Burgardt, Great Bend; 21 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Feb. 16, 1993; a son, Edward Baier; a daughter, Cathy Baier; two brothers, Andrew Burgardt and Jake Burgardt; and two sisters, Helen Unrich and Sister Dorothy Burgardt.
Visitation hours are until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are to St. Dominic School Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home.
